Staying healthy while improving your fighting skills is the key to MMA a fighter’s success. Team Kamikaze fighters train hard under supervised conditions to enhance the fighters training experience by preventing injuries and increasing fighting skills. When a Team Kamikaze fighter is scheduled to fight here is the recommended training schedule they are put on. 1 month out One month out from the scheduled match, Team Kamikaze fighters continue to train three (3) days a week. The focus is on intense mixed martial arts training that includes cardio, sparing / grappling, and submission techniques. Fighters must be committed to train on their own two (2) days a week, the focus being on cardio activities such as running or biking and weight lifting. 2 weeks out: At two weeks before a scheduled fight, the fighters will start to tone down their training to avoid injury. The fighters take longer breaks, only spar at 50% intensity and are made aware to avoid over training. At home training is limited to cardio and calisthenics. Fighters are encouraged to watch what they eat. A special diet that encourage lean proteins like turkey and chicken and simple carbohydrates such as vegetables and fruit. Complex carbohydrates such as pasta are ok in limited amount but better choices can be made. If you are choosing to eat pasta, go for the whole wheat pasta. Stay away from all carbonated soft drinks. Drink plenty of water. 1 week out: At one week out the fighters change their workout yet again. They work exclusively on cardio and techniques. Absolutely no sparring. Fighters must be get plenty of rest . Fighters are instructed to maintain the food diet as instructed at two weeks out. Very little training at four days before the fight. Only running is encouraged. Night before: The night before the fighter should get a good night’s sleep. Watch some MMA videos. Try to visualize the scheduled fight and how you will counteract your opponent’s moves. If you have a video on your opponent, time to watch it again. Now you are ready to take on your opponent. There is no substitute for being prepared and good training and dedication will make you prepared. |
